Man City no.2 Caballero prepared to step into Hart vacancy

Manchester City second-choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero has claimed that he is prepared to step into duties in the absence of the injured Joe Hart.

The England international injured his hamstring during the Champions League defeat to Juventus on Wednesday and had to be replaced by Caballero for the last ten minutes of the game.

Hart is expected to be sidelined for up to two weeks and although it is a major blow for City, Argentine gloveman Caballero is confident he can fill the void.

"Of course it is not good that Joe had to come off but I have to be prepared," said Caballero.

"That is the life of a substitute goalkeeper. Next time I am needed I will be ready, whenever that might be. But of course we hope that Joe recovers. He is a goalkeeper of the very highest level, and he is playing very, very well.

"But it [his injury] is a nice opportunity for me to play a couple of games consecutively. That depends on how Joe is and then it is up to the manager. I will train and I will be ready."
