Man City defender Gomez: I've really enjoyed adapting here

Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez admits he is loving life at the club so far.

The defender arrived in the summer as a replacement for the departed Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Gomez has slotted into the team ideally in recent weeks, and played his part as City defeated Manchester United 6-3 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Post-game, he said about joining the club: "It's true when you come to a big club it's a big challenge but I'm happy with my adaptation to City. Both teammates and coaching staff helped me adapt really quickly. I always try to work hard to have chances to play more, to train harder and make it difficult for Pep to choose a starting XI.

"It's true that I've been to great clubs before, young players always work hard to reach this level, so I'm happy for the minutes and opportunities I'm having at Man City. It's true at Dortmund I didn't play as much as I'd like but I'm really happy and pleased with the minutes I'm getting at the moment. I always try to do my best and as I said before make things difficult for Pep to make his choices. I'm here to work hard and play as much as I can.

"As you said, timing is very important at this level. You have to choose the right moment to play the pass or make the movement. You acquire that through minutes and games so I'm trying to learn little by little and especially adapt to the philosophy we have here at City through the staff and the players. It's true, last season was my first season as a left back at Anderlecht, perhaps I played more outside. Here, Pep is asking me to play more inside and help in the build-up and avoid the loss of the ball as possession is important for us."
