Manchester City have confirmed that full-back Benjamin Mendy has ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The French defender suffered the injury in the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace, and he is now expected to miss the rest of the season.

Mendy will undergo an operation on his knee in Barcelona on Friday.

A club statement said: "Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery."
