Manchester City are ready to trump Manchester United for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. United failed with multiple offers for the former Arsenal captain last summer and aim to try again 12 months on with Cesc unhappy with his progress at the Nou Camp.
The Mail on Sunday says, however, that City are ready to outbid United to land the midfielder.
Unlike United, City can offer Champions League football, a large Spanish speaking contingent and the familiarity of former Barca chiefs Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain now running the football department.
