Man City boss Guardiola: Players upset - that's good

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was delighted with his players after today's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

After the match, Guardiola was pleased with his players' reaction.

“We are hungry and upset in the locker room, but it was an incredibly great game," said Guardiola.

“Statistics or who deserved it more, it doesn't count. I am going to drink my wine with one point.

“I am incredibly pleased about the performance we played because Liverpool are an incredible team.

“We conceded just two chances against that team. The header in the first half and goal.

“The way we make a build up from Ederson with Ruben, Manu Akanji, Rodri, how they play in these ridiculous spaces…Kyle and Nathan to avoid transitions.

“Our left side was a bit better than our right side. We have incredible players, it's different to Kevin or Gundogan but our defending of set pieces… everything was a really high standard.

“After eight years, it was really good to perform in that way. I am so proud of my team.

“We travel with the ball all together. We played really good. I know after eight years. I spoke with Jurgen, he knows I admire him.

“Last game against Chelsea, we defended poorly and then had to rely on our keeper.

“The way Liverpool play, we can't (do that). We don't have players to play that way.

On the disallowed goal that would have put City 2-0 up midway through the second half, Guardiola added: “I didn't watch it, but I had five interviews before this and all of them asked me the same question.

“After the Newcastle v Arsenal action, I don't know. I honestly didn't watch it yet."
