Man City boss Guardiola: Man Utd can be title challengers if they spent some money!

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola congratulated Manchester United on winning the FA Cup.

The Citizens coach was relatively complimentary towards his team's city rivals this week.

The Red Devils beat Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley on Sunday to win the League Cup.

Guardiola also joked that if they “spend a little more money" they can get even better.

"Sooner or later it should happen, shouldn't it?" he told reporters.

"It should happen. Welcome.

“Congratulations to United for the Carabao Cup and to Newcastle as well - the game was entertaining.

“If they spend a little more money, yes [they can challenge more regularly]. It's because they didn't spend, isn't it?

“It's normal, they're in the position they normally should be. The reality is that they fought against two teams in the last years - Liverpool and ourselves - that have done incredibly well in the numbers.

“When I landed here I thought United would always be there, for the history, for everything. Erik is doing an incredible job."
