Man City boss Guardiola: I want my players to play for their countries

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has no problem with his players competing internationally.

Erling Haaland was injured for Norway in a friendly against the Faroe Islands, but will be fit for today's clash with Liverpool.

“It's football," Guardiola said.

“(I have) no problems with them in the international teams. Not a problem. No. They don't want to get injured. We are not an exception."

On the possibility of Haaland reaching the 50-goal Premier League milestone should he play today, Guardiola added: “I didn't know. I don't follow the stats and the records.

“I focus on Liverpool and winning the game.

“It's good for him and us, but I'm not preparing the game for Erling to break the record and score goals."
