Man City and Liverpool prepared to stump up massive salary to Barcelona keeper Ter Stegen

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen could spark a bidding war between a pair of interested Premier League clubs.

Spanish publication Sport suggests that Manchester City and Liverpool are both prepared to double the Barcelona goalkeeper's wages in a bid to lure him to England.

23-year-old Ter Stegen has been reduced to Champions League and cup activities this season and is ready to leave Camp Nou if it means he will play more regularly.

Both City and the Reds have been showing interest in the German for some time and will now offer twice the amount he earns in Catalonia.

Incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing a new keeper to seriously challenge Joe Hart for the number one shirt at the Etihad Stadium while Liverpool continue to be linked with a new shot-stopper as doubts linger about current custodian Simon Mignolet.

It is believed that Ter Stegen would cost any interested club a fee of £63million.
