Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva has opened the door to an eventual return to former club Benfica.

Bernardo admits returning before retirement is on the agenda.

He told Expresso: "Coaching or being president doesn't make sense. But to play? No doubt if they want me there...

"When you're from a club, you always get this connection. Football connects us in a very strong way. It's very strange, because we're very emotional and not rational. When we are Benfiquistas, in this case, we always try to follow the team.

"I think there are some things in life where we are very unrational, for example, politics, most of the time, religion and sport as well. I think it's because kids really love to do sports, from an early age they create a very strong connection to football, which is the king sport in our country. From there, the friend is Sporting, I'm from Benfica, another friend is FC Porto.

"It creates that competition between friends, that fight that makes everything even more fascinating and ends up, from little ones, also with the help of parents ... For example, my mother is a Sportinguista and my father is a Benfiquista. That was a fight back home and I'd sting myself with my mother and then sting myself with my grandfather, who was also a Sportinguista.

"It makes your day-to-day life a little more fun and therefore makes people then very passionate, in this case, about football. I think in my case it was this."
