Luis Suarez proved the matchwinner as Atletico Madrid defeated Getafe 1-0 on Wednesday.
Diego Simeone oversaw a victory in his 500th match in charge of Atletico Madrid, earning his 301st victory as coach of Los Rojiblancos thanks to a Suarez header.
The Uruguayan's 20th minute header was the only goal in the 1-0 win over Getafe at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, with Simeone keeping up his excellent record against the side from the south of the capital. It's now 16 wins, two draws, 34 goals scored and zero goals conceded from his 18 clashes with the Azulones.
The match started with Atleti on the front foot, with Joao Felix trying an acrobatic effort early on, Suarez heading over the bar and Thomas Lemar smacking the post from close range.
A goal was coming and it came soon enough, with Suarez accurately diverting Yannick Carrasco's ball into the box.
Angel Correa almost added a late second for Los Colchoneros as he burst into the box in stoppage time, but the game finished with Suarez's header producing the only net ripple of the night.
