Premier League giants Liverpool are no closer to landing a central midfielder for manager Jurgen Klopp.
After selling Jordan Henderson and being close to selling Fabinho, the Reds are in the market for a new no.6.
Per the Liverpool Echo, a second bid for Southampton star Romeo Lavia has been rejected.
The Reds put in a bid in the range of £41 million for the Belgium international midfielder.
However, Southampton want a fee that is closer to £50 million guaranteed, with add-ons on top.
Liverpool may have to look at other targets if they are not able to resolve these negotiations.
