Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has jumped to the defence of Pedro Chirivella.
Ahead of their Champions League clash with RB Salzburg, Klopp also spoke about the risk of his team being kicked out of the Carabao Cup because they fielded an ineligible player in the last round against MK Dons.
It's understood to be Spanish midfielder Chirivella, who came on as a substitute in the 2-0 win.
"I cannot say too much about it," Klopp said.
"If it was us all alone, then we need to get punished but it didn't happen on purpose. My only real concern is for the player, he already had half a year not playing in Spain. I'm not sure we really made a mistake, but the player should not be punished 100%."
