Lewis: Almost impossible not to improve as a Man City player

Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis says it's easy to improve working with manager Pep Guardiola and his senior teammates.

Lewis was speaking ahead of City's Champions League clash with Young Boys.

He said, "I'd say in terms of being a person I would say I am the same. In terms of a player I am around the best manager, the best players in the world, it's almost impossible not to develop as a player. Whether you're playing or not, training every day with the best people you are going to develop yourself.

"I think at first it is difficult, you get very star struck. You go from watching them on TV to sitting next to them in a changing room, it's quite amazing. After a while you get to speak to them and they are normal people, just like everyone else. They are really nice too, to me they have been so welcoming. For me, it's been a pretty easy transition from someone I watched on TV to someone I can speak to."

City manager Guardiola has declared Lewis among the best players he's coached for his age.

The youngster added: "It's quite difficult to comprehend that someone like that is saying something about yourself, especially for me. I have watched all of Pep's teams growing up and all the players he has worked with. Obviously, it is an amazing comment but for me I just have to continue doing what I do and playing the best I can."
