Lennon delighted with response of Celtic team

Neil Lennon admitted he was extremely proud of his Celtic players after they managed to overcome a horror own-goal to eventually draw 1-1 with Rennes in France last night.

The Hoops went behind when Cha Du-ri put the ball into the back of his own net on the half-hour mark but leveled with 20 minutes remaining when Joe Ledley headed home.

The positive result came on the back of a poor showing in the league in last weekend's 3-3 draw with Kilmarnock and Lennon was visibly delighted with how his side reacted to that disappointment.

"I think it has to be my proudest moment in Europe as manager. To come away and get a positive result out of it is very pleasing and it gives us something to build on," he said.

"I thought it was a great game and both teams contributed to it.

"But we were fantastic. To concede a goal in the manner we did, then show the character and quality throughout the game, and create the chances we did was great.

"I thought we were having a good spell in the game before their goal.

"I'm very proud of the players and I'm glad you are not asking me about the away day hoodoo for a change.

"We've come away to play a top-class French side and got a result. It keeps the group open for us."
