Leicester striker Vardy too expensive for West Ham

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has confirmed the club is keen on Leicester City's Jamie Vardy.

The Hammers are determined to lure a top quality forward to East London for their move into the Olympic Stadium this summer and have so far made bids for five different players, according to reports.

Sullivan revealed on Monday that Foxes hitman Vardy is indeed a player they would like but has admitted that the 29-year-old, who is a serious target for Arsenal, would cost way too much for what his club can afford.

"It was reported that one of our targets was Jamie Vardy, and while it is true that we would have loved to have had him, the numbers being talked about in a potential move to Arsenal show that the market is going potty," Sullivan told the club's official website of the England international who could reportedly earn £120,000 per week with the Gunners.

"It is safe to say that signing him would have smashed our current wage structure and we are determined to buy players with good value in this mad market."
