Leeds boss Sam Allardyce has likened Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to Joe Jordan.

The former Manchester United and AC Milan centre-forward had a fearsome physical reputation.

Ahead of Saturday's meeting, Allardyce said of handling the Norwegian: "To the players who are there in close proximity [to Erling Haaland] - don't play with fear, play with a positive attitude.

"Do your job, if you can just stop him scoring a goal you don't need to do anything else in that game on Saturday. You don't need to contribute in any other way, just stop him scoring and you will have had a fantastic game."

On whether he would have liked to face Haaland as a defender, Allardyce added: "There were lots of [big] centre-forwards like that when I played. They didn't score quite so many goals, of course. The big ones were all around, like Joe Jordan - with no teeth in - you know what I mean? And Joe Royle, players like that. There were some great battles in those days."
