Lazio coach Sarri urges fans to get behind matchwinner Acerbi

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was happy with their 4-3 win at Spezia.

The result keeps Lazio's European hopes alive.

“I think we played a very good game, we created many chances, but also unfortunately made mistakes that kept the game in the balance," Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“We went behind three times and never lost our organisation, so that is positive, but if you make errors like that then it becomes difficult to get a result against opponents of a higher level.

“This evening one of the counter-attacks was basically one we started ourselves with a back-pass, the other two were from set plays. We made mistakes, these were not tactical situations at fault. To be honest, I would prefer to concede fewer goals. It was a mix of transforming the defensive system entirely and many individual errors."

Sarri also spoke of matchwinner Francesco Acerbi's rift with the support.

"“It is disappointing that this situation exists, because Acerbi gives his all in training every day. He might be more on form or off at certain times, but you cannot doubt his effort or work ethic. He's scored quite a few goals too for a defender, so I think he's doing well."
