Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi was delighted with their late, late win against Cagliari.

Giovanni Simeone had opened the scoring after seven minutes and the Sardinians held on to it until the 92nd, when Luis Alberto and then Felipe Caicedo after 97 minutes and 27 seconds turned it around.

Lazio are now in third place and only three points off joint Serie A leaders Inter and Juventus.

Inzaghi said, “I always said our Scudetto would be a top four finish. It's only right that we look upwards, because eight wins in a row are not a fluke, they are thanks to years of hard work and learning experiences that burned us, for example the defeats to Celtic in the Europa League.

“We analysed our errors, had a wonderful, open confrontation with the lads and there is a great bond between us.

“I am fortunate to have a club that over the last four years has never put me in doubt. My staff are with me all day, they all know how we work and what we do, that the players are with us and give all they possibly can."
