Lamela scores twice as Sevilla defeat Rayo Vallecano

Sevilla impressed with victory over Rayo Vallecano in their opening game of the LaLiga season.

Sevilla made a fine start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win against Rayo.

Los Nervionenses dominated the first half, with Youssef En-Nesyri opening the rout in the 19th minute from the spot, to take a 1-0 lead into half time. Rayo goalkeeper Luca Zidane was dismissed for his foul on Oussama Idrissi which resulted in the early penalty.

Sevilla started the second half with renewed vigour, with a goal from new signing Erik Lamela on the 55 minute mark.

They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a second effort from Lamela, on 79 minutes to make it 3-0.
