Vincent Kompany has backed his Belgian teammate Kevin De Bruyne ahead of his proposed move to the Etihad Stadium.
Former Chelsea attacking midfielder De Bruyne is set to complete a move in excess of £45million from German side Wolfsburg and speaking ahead of the mooted completion of the deal, Kompany has praised his international colleague.
Kompany said: "Let me put it this way, he [De Bruyne] is definitely not going to make the team weaker. He's a phenomenal player.
"Our squad can become stronger by getting everyone in the right direction."
De Bruyne would joining City's other summer signings Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph at the Etihad and Kompany believes all of the signings will have big parts to play at the club: "Players like Raheem and Delph, from what I've seen, will give us something different."
