Ronald Koeman has revealed that he had some stern words for his Everton players at half-time on Monday night.
The Toffees battled away in the opening 45 minutes against Sunderlandat the Stadium of Light before eventually overrunning David Moyes' side by scoring three goals, all from Romelu Lukaku, in the second half for a 3-0 win.
Analysing his side's first-half performance, Koeman told Sky Sports: "I was really angry (at half-time), we had good defending but that wasn't the problem, the problem was when we had the ball possession in the midfield and up front, we lost too many balls.
"I know my players, that was the level of the second half, not the level of the first half."
The victory enabled Everton to move up to third position on the Premier League table, two points behind league leaders Manchester City.
