Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has posted an emotional message on social media.

The club confirmed that the Brazilian would undergo surgery on an injury he picked up recently.

While the midfielder is hoping that he can be back from thigh surgery before the season ends, he faces a race against time.

Joelinton had played 23 games so far this season, managing three goals and four assists in those appearances.

The Magpies expect Joelinton back some time in May, while the Brazilian posted this on his Instagram account:

“Today begins another challenge in my life and career, and it is with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face that I am writing this. but a challenge that I will overcome as I have already overcome many others, today begins another beginning in which I will dedicate myself and do my best to recover well and get back to doing what I love in the best way possible.
