Ipswich boss McCarthy allays Pitman fears

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has played down concerns regarding the injury suffered by striker Brett Pitman.

The 27-year-old forward, who was a part of the deal that took Tyrone Mings to Bournemouth, limped off shortly after scoring in Ipswich's 3-2 friendly victory over Cambridge United on Thursday.

"It's not too serious, just a bit of bruising," McCarthy confirmed on the club's official website.

"He had ice on his foot and he said he was fine, but as soon as the second half kicked off we could tell he wasn't fine so we took him off as a precaution.

"Thankfully it's nothing serious and he's fine."
