Innocentin exclusive: Why Napoli & Guintoli perfect for Amin Younes

We think we can say without fear of denial: so far, things between Amin Younes and Napoli have not gone exactly as expected.

The German striker arrived at the court of Carlo Ancelotti with the aim of becoming a first choice instantly, but several injuries have slowed the process.

At Ajax he was a starter and decisive for two years, though he played a little less in the last season.

During this time, however, he had earned the respect of many great European clubs, as his agent Nicola Innocentin told Tribalfootball.com: "There were many first-rate clubs after him: English, Spanish, German, Russian and even other Italian clubs."

So why did he choose the Napoli of sports director Cristiano Giuntoli and president Aurelio De Laurentiis?

Innocentin continued: "Giuntoli is one who knows many players even outside of Italy and in addition to knowing the characteristics, he is one who immediately realises if a player can offer an added value for Napoli.

"In the case of Amin he didn't think twice because besides being a good player he has perfect features for the game of Napoli and if you add that in June 2018 his contract expired, the opportunity was really one of those not to let get away - and so it was."

In any case, after some injuries at the beginning of the season, Younes is finally finding his own space in Naples, with Ancelotti starting to count on him more frequently and with confidence.

At the moment, he has made 14 appearances and also scored 3 goals. In all likelihood the next season will start with different assumptions and expectations.

So what can the player's agent say about Napoli's organisation?

Innocentin added: "I have always spoken and worked with Giuntoli who reported to the president before defining the contractual agreements. I have had the pleasure of meeting the president on other occasions but we have never spoken about Younes but nevertheless everything has gone well - also because SSC Napoli boasts in its organization a chart of great professionals with well defined roles that according to their tasks they activate promptly. I am glad that De Laurentiis has decided to extend the contract to Giuntoli because I consider him one of the most competent sports directors of all those I know."

Not only the esteem for the work of Giuntoli and for the organisation of De Laurentiis' Napoli, but also the conviction that Serie A was the most suitable league for the technical characteristics of Younes.

"Other clubs were interested in him: English, Spanish, Germans, Russians and Italian but the determination of Napoli and a type of football certainly suitable for him have prevailed in the choice."

What does the German footballer need to return to shine like a few years ago?

"Younes only needs to return to play continuously," said Innocentin. "Because otherwise he is a very talented player who has already been part of the German national team (with which he won the Confederation Cup with in 2017), and I think that in the future he can definitely return to be part of it."

We must not forget that Younes is only 26 years old and that he has already been a player of the German national team, with whose shirt he also scored two goals. He still has many years as a first level player to play. Hopefully with Napoli's' colours.
