Cannavaro says the arrival of Kostas Manolas from Roma will make Napoli one of the favourites.

If Napoli really want a step up in quality, they need to do it with Manolas," 2006 Ballon d'Or winner Cannavaro told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Greece international in a partnership with Koulibaly would be exceptional. They both know how to defend deep or higher up the pitch, from close quarters or when forwards run at them. They're excellent in one-on-one situations.

With two players like that, you can afford to commit more men in attack and create better scoring opportunities.

The big clubs with centre-backs who have these characteristics can go all the way in the Champions League. I'm talking about Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane at Real Madrid, while Ajax came so close with Matthijs de Ligt."

Zapata and Colombia teammate James Rodriguez, of Real Madrid, are both targets for Napoli.

"He wants to consolidate his amazing year at Copa America and help Colombia," Fernando Villarreal told calcionapoli1926.

As for linking up with James, I must say that with certain players, it's much easier for them to find affinity and play together.

As long as Napoli don't sell any players, I doubt they can buy certain players. I can confirm there have been no more talks.

There have been no contacts between the two clubs that I know of, so nothing has happened since the last time we spoke."

As are many of his young teammates. This is their big chance. With a transfer ban. And a new manager. This season offers Chelsea's kids an opportunity like no other...

And strengthening their case will be the new coaching team about to be installed. For all the complaints from Derby County, Abraham wasn't shy over the weekend. The striker declaring what we all know: Frank Lampard will be his next manager.

"I believe in myself and there is no better guy to play under as well. He's someone you have grown up watching and has been at Chelsea forever," said Abraham, before enjoying a little dig at the Rams after his role in Aston Villa's promotion last season.

"Like I say, he knows about me as well - I played against his team in the play-off final!"

Lampard does know of Abraham. But more importantly Lampard's No2 at Derby, Jody Morris, knows Abraham - and every single one of those teammates whom progressed with him through the youth system - inside out.

Four years Morris was involved in Chelsea's academy. The final two as U18 coach before being convinced by Lampard to join him at Pride Park last summer. Morris actually signing off at the time a Quadruple winner with his young Blues team.

It was Morris, not Lampard, who was the biggest influence on Derby's signing of Blues pair Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori a year ago. But credit the manager. It was Lampard's work which saw Mount break into the England squad as a Championship player. Just as he deserves recognition for helping Tomori produce the best 12 months of his career. The Calgary-born England U21 fullback returning to Chelsea with Derby's Player of the Year gong.

But for Abraham's young peers, it will be the presence of Lampard's No2 which offers them hope.

As we said, with Morris an ally. A real champion for the club's young players. Next season offers the likes of Abraham an opportunity like no other. But it has to be said, this will be no revolution. Simply evolution. Progress from what was laid down by Maurizio Sarri last season.

It'll all be washed away amid the excitement of Lampard's homecoming. But it should be remembered by Blues fans. Noted. That it was Sarri who had at three academy graduates on the pitch during their late run to a third place finish. Andreas Christensen, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi all given their chance by the Italian last season.

For all the jibes about his reluctance to employ youth. To go beyond a set squad of 12-14 players. As his old president at Napoli, Aurelio de Laurentiis, would have us believe. Sarri did lay some pretty significant foundations for Lampard and Morris to build upon. Sarri made them work hard for it. As he should. And all three proved themselves worthy of the shirt.

For Lampard, there'll be no guessing game about this young Blues trio. Sarri made sure of that. He inherits three Blues graduates he knows he can immediately count on.

As we say, it's evolution not revolution. Which it should be noted is what is also occurring off the pitch.

Petr Cech's return is a move worth celebrating. The just retired goalkeeper returning from Arsenal to take up a role with the title of 'technical and performance advisor'. Which is a fancy way of saying 'apprentice'. Essentially, Cech will be learning the ropes of what is required to be a technical director with the aim of eventually filling the void left by Michael Emenalo 18 months ago.

Along with the popular Cech, Claude Makelele has also been mentioned as a potential front office addition. Couple that with Lampard and Morris' return and it does seem like an ex-players' shake-up is running through the club.

But this approach has been ongoing for some time. Yes, we haven't seen ex-Blues in positions of manager or director. But Chelsea, to the board's credit, have been on the front foot in bringing back players to fill roles of responsibility. Eddie Newton, Tore Andre Flo and Paulo Ferreira have all been involved in Chelsea's massive loan player program. Newton also has jumped in and out of coaching at youth level.

The arrival of Lampard and Morris will simply swell the ranks of ex-players in positions of responsibility even further. And it's that continuity which can only be of benefit to those players coming through the Blues system.

As Abraham says, "There is no better time for a young player to be at Chelsea".

Who's excited?!

With the season now over, most of the attention has turned to the summer transfer window.

There are stories and speculation swirling around everywhere. Sometimes it feels overwhelming.

But please don't stress, because here at Tribalfootball we will summarise the biggest stories throughout football each week and let you know whether you should believe the paper talk or not

Ousmane Dembele - Barcelona

Clubs Interested: PSG, Liverpool

Barcelona have set a price tag for France international Ousmane Dembele who has garnered the interest of PSG and Liverpool as of late.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, the Blaugrana are willing to listen to offers for Dembele for 100m the same price they paid Dortmund for the winger's services back in 2017 minus add-ons.

Whilst there may be concerns over Dembele's attitude and fitness, Dembele's ability is not under question.

The Frenchman is capable of performing at the highest level, hence he'd be an excellent addition to PSG and Liverpool should they decide to pay Barcelona's asking price.

With Neymar reportedly set to make a return to Barcelona, PSG could get Dembele as his replacement.

Liverpool on the other hand already have a stacked squad unless a member of their front three should decide to leave this summer, it's hard to envisage Klopp acquiring a forward who could potentially ruin the team's chemistry up front.

Likelihood: More likely Paris than Merseyside

Paul Pogba - Manchester United

Clubs Interested: Real Madrid

Real Madrid appear keen on bringing Paul Pogba to the Santiago Bernabeu as The Sun claim that the Spanish football giants have told Manchester United to accept either Isco or Gareth Bale as part of a deal for Pogba's services.

Zinedine Zidane views Pogba as a signing that will help take the club back to the forefront of world football, considering the midfielder's abilities on and off the ball.

Los Blancos have already acquired the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, and should Manchester United let Pogba go, Madrid could have one of the best lineups in Europe next season.

Pogba seems open to a move away from Old Trafford as he is, by his own admission, considering having a new challenge somewhere else.

Madrid seems keen as well, and Manchester United, despite still needing Pogba's services, may feel like they could replace him with the funds they get back from his sale.

Likelihood: United should consider it

Kalidou Koulibaly - Napoli

Clubs Interested: Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Kalidou Koulibaly to form what could be the best centre-back pairing in the Premier League, and quite possibly, the world.

The Senegal international has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks with Koulibaly seemingly seeking a new challenge.

Reports claim that Jurgen Klopp has contacted Koulibaly's agent to discuss a possible move for the centre-back.

Liverpool fans have been clamouring for Koulibaly for a while, hence his arrival will go down well with the club's supporters.

Considering Liverpool's current standing in world football, after winning the Champions League, the prospect of turning out for the Reds alongside Virgil Van Dijk will probably be too good for Koulibaly to turn down.

Likelihood: Good move for both parties

Frank Lampard - Derby County

Clubs Interested: Chelsea

Chelsea fans are divided over Frank Lampard's potential appointment following Maurizio Sarri's move to Serie A champions Juventus.

By the looks of it, the Chelsea legend will be taking over at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new Premier League season.

According to The Sun, Frank Lampard is set to meet with Abramovic in France on his yacht to discuss the terms of his appointment.

Chelsea, though, will need Derby's permission before they are able to engage in any formal talks with Lampard.

Whilst Lampard might be somewhat of a punt for Chelsea, there aren't many great alternatives at the moment, besides Jose Mourinho.

Likelihood: The one and only Lamps to Chelsea is quite possible

Kiernan Tierney - Celtic

Clubs Interested: Arsenal

According to The Sun, Celtic have rejected Arsenal's opening offer for fan favourite, Kiernan Tierney.

The Gunners tabled a bid of 15m which was deemed far off of Tierney's value by Celtic as the Scottish outfit's asking price for Tierney is 25m.

Arsenal reportedly tried to offer fringe players such as Carl Jenkinson, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah as part of the deal.

But Celtic appear set to stick to their asking price considering Tierney's importance to the team.

Arsenal have a very limited budget to worth with so they're unlikely to compromise on whatever they're willing to spend for a player's services this summer.

They will most likely turn their attention elsewhere if Celtic is unwilling to lower their asking price.

Likelihood: This one could fall through

After just a year in Naples, Ruiz is under consideration at Real as an alternative transfer target to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

AS says the problem for Real is the lack of buyout clause in Ruiz's deal.

It is expected to take as much as 70m to bring Napoli to the table for negotiations.

However, Real could use James Rodriguez as a bargaining chip in talks. The Colombian is a confirmed target for Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

But despite Zidane's opinion, ABC says some of Europe's biggest clubs are queuing to sign Reguilon.

Napoli, AC Milan, Sevilla, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are all keen, as are Bayern Munich, which see the fullback as a potential replacement for David Alaba.

Real are seeking 30m to sell Reguilon.

Despite having a poor season and missing out on England's Nations League Finals squad, Trippier is a hot property this summer.

Spurs are prepared to entertain a sale and it appears two Italian giants will fight over his signature.

Napoli want an experienced right back, while Juventus will be in the market for one if Joao Cancelo moves to Manchester City.

The news of the two clubs being after Trippier comes from the Mirror.

They claim the player will cost roughly 25 million.

For this edition, we run our eye over Arsenal's loanees.

TOP 3 PERFORMERS

1. Reiss Nelson, (Season-Long Loan) TSG Hoffenheim

Age: 19

Position: Winger

It was a breakout season for the young attacker, who in his first ever loan spell reacted positively to a change of environment in Germany. Nelson played mainly as an impact player off the bench, with 24 out of his 29 appearances being as a substitute. Nonetheless, his presence was felt as the teenager registered 7 goals and 1 assist, as well as important involvements in the Bundesliga and Champions League. The youngster operated at a brilliant 86.3% pass accuracy, registered an impressive 20 key passes, averaged 0.9 successful dribbles per game and 0.9 shots per game. Overall it was an impressive season for the youngster, who showed glimpses of greatness and certainly has the potential to improve into a top player.

Rating: 7.5/10

2. Krystian Bielik, (Season-Long Loan) Charlton Athletic

Age: 21

Position: Centre-Back / Defensive Midfield

It was a season of success for Arsenal's Polish centre-back in his third loan spell at the Gunners. Bielik was a crucial cog in Lee Bowyer's Charlton Athletic side that achieved promotion in dramatic fashion in the League One Playoff final. Playing at Centre-Back but more predominantly employed in defensive midfield, Bielik was a mainstay making 34 appearances for the Addicks. In these games he scored 4 goals and recorded 2 assists, as well as being a part of 13 clean sheets in the Charlton side that had the second best defensive record in the League. Overall an encouraging season for the Pole who will look to make an impression at his parent club over the summer.

Rating: 7/10

3. Calum Chambers, (Season-Long Loan) Fulham

Age: 24

Position: Centre-Back / Defensive Midfield

While it might have been a dismal result at club level with Fulham relegated in their first season back in the top division, it was a somewhat more encouraging season for Arsenal fringe man Calum Chambers. Chambers made a total of 34 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 2 goals in the Premier League from defensive midfield. The defender averaged 2.2 interceptions per game (11th in the Premier League), 2.1 tackles per game, made 107 clearances, won 64 aerial duels and made 43 blocks. However, these stats are marred by Fulham's defensive record, a side that conceded 81 goals making them the most porous defense in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if Chambers can finally cement himself at the Emirates or whether he will be loaned out again to another Premier League side.

Rating: 5.5/10

FULL LIST OF OTHER ARSENAL LOANEES + RANKINGS

MATURE AGE LOANEES

David Ospina, (Season-Long Loan) SSC Napoli

Age: 30

Position: Goalkeeper

The Colombian No.1 shared the goalkeeping load with fellow loanees Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis, playing a total of 24 matches for the Italian outfit (including all 6 Champions League matches). In these matches he conceded 25 goals and kept 8 clean sheets. However, it looks like Ospina will be sold to Napoli this summer.

Rating: 5/10

Takuma Asano, (Season-Long Loan) Hannover 96

Age: 24

Position: Second Striker

The Japanese international did not excel in his second successive loan spell in Germany. This time with Hannover, Asano made only 15 appearances (13 in the Bundesliga) and his solitary goal and assist came in a 6-0 drubbing of a third division side in the Cup.

Rating: 3.5/10

Matt Macey, (Season-Long Loan) Plymouth

Age: 24

Position: Goalkeeper

In his first full-season on loan from the Gunners, Matt Macey didn't exactly steal the headlines. Playing in the depths of the third division, Macey was Plymouth's number 1 for the majority of the season. Playing a total of 38 matches between the sticks, he conceded a whopping 70 goals and only kept a measly 5 clean sheets.

Rating: 3/10

Emiliano Martinez, (Six-Month Loan) Reading

Age: 26

Position: Goalkeeper

In his sixth loan spell, the Arsenal reserve goalkeeper did an adequate job in the Championship in the second half of the season. In his 18 matches at the club he played every single minute between the sticks, where he conceded 23 goals and kept 5 clean sheets. Nothing outstanding but once again he proved his reliability.

Rating: 5/10

YOUTH PROSPECTS (U23)

Emile Smith Rowe, (Six-Month Loan) RB Leipzig

Age: 18

Position: Left-Midfield

Following in the footsteps of teammate Reiss Nelson didn't go quite as planned for the young attacking prospect. Although Rowe excelled in the first half of the season with his parent club, (making debut appearances and scoring goals in the Europa League and EFL Cup) his form didn't carry on into Germany. Joining RB Leipzig for the second-half of the season, Rowe only played a total of 26 minutes in his 3 appearances for the club.

Rating: 3/10

Kelechi Nwakali, (Six-Month Loan) FC Porto B

Age: 21

Position: Attacking Midfield

The young Nigerian struggled to take control of the Portuguese Second Division where he only made 16 appearances across the season. He scored 0 goals and created 0 assists.

Rating: 3/10

In Brazil for the Copa America with Colombia, James is a confirmed target for Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
