Idrissa Gueye: I urged Everton to let me join PSG

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye admits he wants to play Champions League football.

Gueye was blocked from joining PSG in January.

He told 13 TV: "I knew PSG's record from the beginning. Indeed, it is my brother who deals with my business who had been to see the French club leaders since June 2018.

"At first, they were reluctant because they wanted to wait until (Thomas) Tuchel, who had just arrived, to get familiar with the club. In November, my brother came back to tell me that the leaders of Paris have contacted him to say that they are interested in my signing.

"During a game against Chelsea, he asked me to make a good performance because Paris was going to watch me that day. After this meeting, they were convinced and the first contacts started. You know in the transfer window, we do not master the exact sum of the proposals. We can talk about 25 million euros while the offer was superior. Paris wanted me and frankly did all the necessary steps, personally I spoke to my leaders. But Everton did not want to let go. For me, my goal in club football is to win cups and play the Champions League."
