Van der Vaart made his Spurs debut in Saturday's draw at West Bromwich Albion.
Huddlestone said: "Van der Vaart has brought that little bit of class. He's got 85 caps for Holland and he's still only 27, so that speaks volumes for his ability.
"In his first session, he was everything I would have expected, comfortable on the ball and doesn't mind getting stuck in.
"With him in the team, playing off a striker, I hope we might get more of the ball with three in midfield.
"I don't think it will affect the way we play but it might help us defensively more than anything."
