Gundogan slams Man City teammates: Not brave, too nervous

Ilkay Gundogan slammed Manchester City teammates after their Champions League defeat to Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola's men lost 1-0 at Tottenham in Tuesday's quarter-final first leg to leave their Quadruple hopes in danger.

Gundogan on German TV is quoted by The Sun: "We were not brave enough in our build-up play, and we made a lot of basic errors.

"I have the feeling that our nerves are on edge in important Champions League games.

"We always make the wrong decisions.

"In these matches we always want to do something special, as it is a Champions League quarter-final.

"But sometimes less is more.

"We broke down after we missed our penalty. Negative events like that always set us back far too much.

"Had we scored from the penalty we'd have torn Tottenham to pieces.

"But instead we withdrew from the game. That is something a great team cannot do.

"And it showed that we cannot yet describe ourselves as a great team."
