Groningen have declared negotiations remain open with Fulham over the sale of striker Erik Nevland.

A statement on Groningen's official website read: "Tonight, FC Groningen will sit round the table with Fulham to discuss the possible transfer of Erik Nevland.

"The English club - 19th in the Premier League - would like the attacker immediately for the next two-and-a-half seasons.

"An initial bid from Fulham was rejected earlier this week. Erik Nevland has now asked the club to negotiate with Fulham.

"Out of respect for what the player wants, Groningen will speak with the English club."
