Dan Gosling hopes to find a place in central midfield at Newcastle United.
The former Everton utility admits that he will need all of his mental toughness to battle through what looks like a four-month injury lay-off after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament for the Toffees back in March.
One of the frustrations for Gosling during his time at Goodison Park was the lack of opportunity to play in the centre of midfield.
But he hopes to make an impact for the Magpies in a central berth.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "I feel most comfortable in central midfield - I feel I give more to the team there.
"My versatility's worked out well for me so far, but I want to nail down a place where I feel I'm best at. Hopefully, it's central midfield. Usually the manager likes to put experienced players there - it's the centre of the team.
"But hopefully, I can show what I can do, and fight for my place."
