Marton Fulop hopes to keep his place in Sunderland's goal for their clash with Everton.
He played in 24 of the club's 26 games after Gordon damaged an ankle in training in October, but found himself back on the bench for the 2-0 defeat at West Ham on April 4 as manager Ricky Sbragia opted for change.
Fulop told the Sunderland Echo: "I was obviously very upset to be left out. I didn't understand why.
"But I had to accept the manager's decision and do my job.
"The most important thing at the moment is the club's position in the league and we will all be looking for a big improvement against Everton next weekend."
