Fulham signing Davis has no Villa regrets

New Fulham signing Steven Davis has no regrets over his to decision Aston Villa this summer.

The £4 million midfielder told the Birmingham Mail: "I spent six years at Villa and have a lot of people to thank.

"The coaches, Tony McAndrew and Kevin MacDonald, were really excellent for me and my career - Gordon Cowans too. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club. They were a big help to me and played a big part in my development as a footballer.

"I have a lot of fond memories. A lot of the same set of youth players came through to the senior ranks together and that made it even more enjoyable.

"It is sad to go but I have got to get my career back on track. Last year was very disappointing.

"I had a chat with Martin O'Neill and wasn't given any real assurances about my future.

"A bid then came in from Fulham and Lawrie Sanchez wanted me to sign.

"It was a very hard decision - but one I felt I needed to make.

"As I say, I enjoyed my time, but I have to move on and I am excited by the move to Fulham.

"People have their own perceptions about how big a club Fulham are, but having gone down there and listened to their plans for the future I know there is an awful lot to look forward to."
