France coach Deschamps: Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann in slump - it happens

France coach Didier Deschamps insists he is calm about the form of Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann has struggled for goals for the club and country this year.

But Deschamps told Le Parisien: "He's not a robot. Him like the others. Obviously the head controls the legs. But every player meets, sooner or later, a period of less well. Which results, then, in a loss of confidence.

"Antoine has chained the seasons at high intensity. Before his physical glitch at the start of the year (injury to the right thigh), he had always been spared from injury during his career.

"A few months earlier, he had changed clubs. External elements could also have impacted him. I know him well. He has a big mind. He needed to regenerate and will do everything to get back to his best level.

"Does he get preferential treatment? No more him than anyone else. But in full possession of his means, he represents a plus for the France team."
