Ex-Union Berlin chief: We tried to buy Kane from Tottenham

Former Union Berlin football chief Nico Schafer admits they tried to sign a young Harry Kane from Tottenham.

Union made their move for Kane seven years ago as he was trying to establish himself in the pro game.

"We discovered Harry Kane through the Wyscout system," recalled Schafer to BILD, “he was still young, a talent.

"We spoke to his club and phoned his agent several times. Kane should form the attack in the second division together with Simon Terodde.

"But despite Union's special relationship with English football, Kane wanted to stay on the island."
