Ex-Sunderland keeper Gordon good enough for Scotland - Celtic's Deila

Celtic manager Ronny Deila is of the belief that Craig Gordon is good enough to again play for Scotland.

The 31-year old goalkeeper produced an outstanding display in the Hoops' 2-2 Europa League draw with Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday night which suggests to his boss that he is still in good enough shape to represent his country.

In 2007, Gordon cost Sunderland £9million when they purchased him from Heart of Midlothian which made him the most expensive British goalkeeper at the time and Deila feels he can get back to the form that warranted that transfer fee and add to his international caps tally of 40 matches.

"Of course he can do that," said Deila when he was quizzed on whether or not Gordon could be Scotland's number one again.

"I think Gordon is saying the same. He has keepers doing the same job and the question is who is doing it the best. That is his decision.

"I think Craig has been very good and, of course, Gordon has the problem with at least three goalkeepers I know about who are very good, so that is good for Scotland."
