Everton reached the last 32 of the Europa League with a 1-0 win away to AEK Athens at the Olympic Stadium. The decisive goal arrived early from Diniyar Bilyaletdinov as Everton overcame a host of injury problems and a sodden pitch.
The Toffees controlled the game for long periods with only Youssef Hersi clipping a post for AEK causing the visitor's any concern.
Again Blues boss David Moyes was unlucky with injuries as Dan Gosling, Sylvain Distin and Jo all failed to complete the game.
But 17-year-old substitutes Jose Baxter and Shane Duffy, as well as Seamus Coleman, showed experience and quality beyond their years to play their part in a clinical away performance.
And the win was the perfect way for Tony Hibbert to mark his record-equalling 19th European appearance in an Everton shirt.
