Gretar Steinsson has quickly seen his role at Everton expanded.
The former Fleetwood football chief originally moved to Everton as European scout in December.
And the Liverpool Echo says Steinsson's role has quickly expanded into other areas of the club as Marcel Brands works closely with the 37-year-old.
But Steinsson, as a key figure in the recently formed 'leaders group' of Blues scouts, is understood to have assisted the director of football in identifying transfer targets after the positions that needed strengthening were agreed upon around the time of his arrival.
Brands always eyed an expanded role for the new recruit and it is understood that the chief European scout is to use his vast knowledge of the Football League, and contacts with such clubs, to identify emerging talent as well as helping pick loan clubs for Everton's youngsters.
