Everton boss Dyche 'very pleased' after victory at Forest

Everton boss Sean Dyche was delighted with their 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

Dwight McNeil struck the only goal of the game on the day.

“I'm very pleased," said Dyche. “After what has happened over the last few weeks, it's a restart for us. I thought we were good against Manchester United. The scoreline doesn't look like it was but I thought it was a good performance.

“We've taken a strong mentality into an away performance today and it's now three away wins on the trot which is very difficult in the Premier League.

“The mentality is right, some of the performances levels are right and we've got to keep getting that mixture.

“It's the mentality to do the hard yards. I think we have some very good players here, too. Dwight's goal is a great example of that as it showed our ability but also the willingness to do the hard yards for each other as a team.

“I think that was on show before the 10-point deduction. A lot of people have been talking about that situation galvanising us but the mentality has been there all season. I think the performance levels have been as well.

“There's a battle on our hands, we know that, but it's a big step today to get that first win after the recent news and a very good away performance."
