Everton boss Ancelotti frustrated with West Ham draw; happy with Gordon

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was left disappointed with their 1-1 draw at West Ham.

The Hammers dominated the first half at London Stadium, but saw a succession of chances go begging before taking the lead through Issa Diop's 40th-minute header. However, the advantage lasted just a few minutes before Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed in from a corner.

Ancelotti said: "I think that this season we can improve and we have to improve.

"Some parts of our game are good, some other parts are absolutely not there. To show more intensity in games, to be more precise when we have possession, we don't have to be too shy when we have the ball. So, there we can improve immediately."

On today's draw, which keeps Everton 11th in the table, Ancelotti added: "It is a good point. Of course, we didn't deserve to equalise in the first-half because West Ham played better than us, we made a lot of mistakes, we were not in the game.

"The second-half was completely different, we played differently and in the end, the result is a good point and we deserved the point."

In a half-time tactical switch, Ancelotti brought on Anthony Gordon in place of Bernard and the Everton boss was pleased with the young forward on his Premier League debut.

"He did well, he did well," he said.

"He is doing well in training. Of course, this was his first appearance in the Premier League but he showed character, personality, he tried to do things, I am happy with his performance."
