EUROPA LEAGUE: Tottenham hold Partizan in Serbia

Tottenham have opened their 2014/15 Europa League campaign with a point in Serbia.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs held Partizan Belgrade to a 0-0 draw in a tight contest in Group C at the Partizan Stadium in front of just over 20,000 fans.

There were few out-and-out scoring chances throughout the 90 minutes apart from Harry Kane's effort in just the second minute which hit the woodwork.

Pochettino left the likes of Younes Kaboul, Emmanuel Adebayor and Danny Rose in London but still fielded a fairly strong side which consisted of Spurs debutant Federico Fazio, fellow new signings Benjamin Stambouli and Ben Davies, number one keeper Hugo Lloris and promising youngster Nabil Bentaleb.

The draw will be welcomed by Tottenham as Belgrade is seen as a very tough place to get a result and it will set them up for their next European outing which takes place against Turkish side Besiktas at White Hart Lane on October 2.
