Christian Eriksen has made it clear that the Tottenham players are not affected by speculation regarding their manager Tim Sherwood.
The Spurs boss continues to be the subject of rumours linking him with a summer departure as the north London club reportedly gets set to bring in Holland manager Louis van Gaal.
Following Tottenham's 5-1 victory over Sunderland on Monday night, goalscorer Eriksen insisted that the Spurs side are behind Sherwood but first and foremost they are there to compete on the pitch.
"I think everybody wanted to show that we aren't affected by what the newspapers say or write. We are playing our game, like you saw today," he told Sky Sports.
"It's easy for us to just focus on our thing. Whatever happens outside the club, or inside the club, of course we hear it and read it, but we try to be professional and just play football."
Eriksen scored Tottenham's third goal at White Hart Lane as an Emmanuel Adebayor brace and further goals from Harry Kane and Gylfi Sigurdsson saw them recover from Lee Cattermole's early opener for the Black Cats.
