England U21 coach Lee Carsley has questioned Rico Lewis' future as a fullback with Manchester City.

Lewis was handed a first call-up by Carsley this week.

"I'm still not convinced that he's a right-back," Carsley said. "He can play in various positions and we see him being able to potentially play midfield as well.

"What's probably surprised us is how quick his progress has been in such a tough squad to get into at Man City.

"It just goes to show the level that he's playing and training at - probably more importantly as well, having the mentality to deal with that."
