West Ham United have rejected an opening bid of £40m plus an unknown player from Manchester United for Issa Diop.

Diop made 33 appearances and proved himself as one of the Hammers' top players as they finished 10th.

The 22-year-old is seen as a cheaper alternative for United than Harry Maguire or Matthijs De Ligt.

West Ham are holding out for £60m for Diop, who has represented France from U16 to U21 level.

The player himself is keen on the move and could hand in a transfer request, according to The Mirror.
