Dier hails important Tottenham victory

Tottenham defender Eric Dier believes Spurs are ready to get their Premier League campaign back on track after notching their first win of the season over Sunderland on Sunday.

Ryan Mason's 82nd minute strike ended Tottenham's winless start to the season and eased some of the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino's men.

With the monkey finally off the back, Dier is confident Spurs can make a mover up the Premier League standings in the coming weeks.

"It was really important [to get our first win]. We've been unlucky and we've made mistakes in our past games, but it was great to get a clean sheet and a win today," Dier told Sky Sports after the match.

"It's important to build on this result. We knew going into this game that we've got a lot of home games now in a row, so we can get a win and then roll onto the home games where we can hopefully pick up a lot of points."
