Davide Nicola has detailed how he managed to negotiate a return to Salernitana - 48 hours after he was sacked.
After their 8-2 thrashing by Atalanta, Nicola was dismissed by the Serie A strugglers. But within 48 hours, he was reinstated.
Taking to Facebook, Nicola detailed a crazy two days in Salernitana's history.
He stated: "I'll tell you the truth. Yesterday I received a phone call from President (Danilo) Iervolino who with his manner, always amiable and kind, explained to me the reasons for his decision that he took with bitterness but that was supposed to mark the discontinuity after the very bad game in Bergamo against Atalanta.
"I immediately made mea culpa, taking all the responsibility for an inadequate performance and the consequent heavy defeat. Because I believe in this team as well as in the men who compose it, as well as I believe in the great club behind it. I asked the President with all my strength to review the exoneration provision, knowing that he is touching the strings of a human soul that has deep sensitivity to understand and strongly wants to build a different football.
"Because I love Salerno and I blindly believe in this project. 'Stories of men who do great things': this is what the President has always told us, who - as I have always acknowledged - was the main architect of the salvation of last season.
"It is he who has instilled passion, personality and ferocity in achieving impossible things. It is he who strongly believes that when men pull in the same direction they are capable of extraordinary things.
"I thank (Morgan) De Sanctis, without his mediation it would not have been possible.
"And I have already seen him accomplish many extraordinary things. From his prodigious enterprise in the world of training, to his surprising projects in the field of publishing up to the upheavals in a few months also in the football world. These are the men I do not want to give up, I thank the President for calling me, this is the demonstration that new football is a football of passion and heart and for this I WANT to repay his trust with all my strength and with all the passion I have.
"With the Sports Direction led by Morgan De Sanctis, whom I thank for the mediation without which this operation would not have been possible, we expect weeks of hard work and continuous comparison to achieve our goals.
