Crystal Palace midfielder Wharton targets England Euro call

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton admits he would love to be named in England's Euro 2024 squad.

The 20-year-old has impressed since arriving at the club from Blackburn Rovers in January.

While Wharton knows that time is on his side, he wants to play for the Three Lions as soon as possible.

With UEFA allowing 26 players in squads, youngsters such as Wharton, his Palace teammate Eberechi Eze, and Manchester United teenager Kobbie Mainoo may all go.

Eze and Wharton were outstanding against United in a 4-0 win for Palace on Monday.

While Mainoo did play the game, he did not put in his best display of the season.

Wharton said: “It's obviously great to be mentioned within that.

“If it happens, it happens. It would be great. But at the same time, I'm not expecting anything. I'm just enjoying my football at Palace.

“We've still got two games left before the Euros. I'm looking at them first, and then if I get the call-up, fantastic. If not, recover in the summer and go again next year."
