Crystal Palace boss Hodgson delighted with victory at Burnley

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson was delighted after their win at Burnley.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Tyrick Mitchell struck for the 2-0 victory.

Hodgson said, "That second goal is the sort of goal that when you are pushing and trying as hard as Burnley did throughout the game, causing us problems and getting into our area, breakaways like that happen and it skews the scorline really.

"It was more of a 1-0 victory which would have come about through some excellent defending and through some very diligent and disciplined work.

"But 2-0 flatters us a bit and was very harsh on Burnley who I thought played well. It's very surprising that a team capable of applying that sort of pressure on an opponent is struggling to get those points. If they carry on playing they did today, I am certain those points will come.

"Our back four were very good, particularly those two centre-backs."

On Palace's second goal scored by Mitchell, he added: "It was a breakaway that was on. Eberechi Eze had the composure to look up and see Tyrick Mitchell coming. It's nice for Tyreek to score that goal but as I say I feel sorry for Burnley in some respects.

"It doesn't really feel like a 2-0 game from our point of view. To be fair it didn't need to be, it needed to be a victory and that's what we got."
