Crewe boss Davis delighted with capture of Newcastle's Inman

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis admits he is thrilled that Bradden Inman has signed permanently with the League One club.

The 21-year old Australian-Scottish midfielder signed a three-year deal with the Alex on Thursday, departing Premier League side Newcastle United, and Davis felt he deserved some credit for making the risky move.

"We are delighted to have completed the signing of Brad. It is a transfer that we have had to work hard on and the club deserve great credit for the signing," Davis told the club's official website.

"He will be a great asset for the club and he deserves great credit for turning down Newcastle's offer and going into the lower leagues to play regular football. I 'm sure there are not many 21-year-olds who could turn down a Premier League Club for the bigger pitcher.

"They can become comfortable in that environment and it is the easy way, but Brad is doing it the more difficult way. He is prepared to leave and play competitive games week in week out. That will only help with his development and we know we have a good player on our hands.

"He has shown courage and now it is up to us to improve him further and really get his career going again, like I think we did last season."

Inman had a loan stint with the Alex last season and so far has netted eight goals in 26 appearances for the Cheshire club.
