Chicago Fire's McBride more nervous watching US

Chicago Fire striker Brian McBride has revealed he is more nervous watching the USA national team than he was when he was playing.

The former Fulham and USA man admitted his nerves took a beating when he watched the USA v England opener with his wife but was glad to see a positive outcome.

"I'll tell you, I was texting a friend back and forth in England. I've never been so nervous," said McBride. "Honestly. My wife turns to me and says, 'That's how I feel all the time.' I guess because when you're out there, you have sort of an input into it. But yeah, my nerves were going crazy frazzled.

"But I loved it. I loved every minute watching it. I was so happy to see us get a point."
