Aston Villa favourite James Chester admits he was stunned when John Terry arrived at the club.

Chester signed for Villa in the summer of 2016 from West Brom and got to play next to Chelsea legend Terry a year later.

They formed an excellent partnership in defence in the Championship under Steve Bruce, finishing in the play-off positions.

“JT was brilliant at Aston Villa," Chester said, per Birmingham Live.

"When the rumours started swirling that he was coming to Villa, it wasn't something that I particularly believed.

“When he walked through the door, you could only be impressed with what John brought as a person around the training ground and changing room.

"As I've got older, I've appreciated even more how good a footballer he was. At 36, still playing at the level he was playing at and looking incredibly comfortable is something I've admired more and more the older I've got in my career."
